“We’ve seen that you can work with a young person for years – you do one youth exchange with them and, at the end, the impact and the development is just huge.” – Rachel Kelly, Project Leader at FYRC

Finglas Youth Resource Centre (FYRC) has been involved in European Programmes for 15 years, providing young people in the area with the opportunity to travel and volunteer abroad. Their participation in Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps (ESC) projects show the transformational impact these programmes have on both participants and their communities.

At their 2026 European Youth Week event, FYRC invited young people and schools in the area to meet with programme participants and learn about the opportunities available to them. Speaking about his time volunteering in Slovenia, ESC participant Patrick Reilly said:

“It gave me the chance to be independent and see that there’s more out there to life than just Finglas as an area.”

FYRC continues to expand their work in European Projects by participating in a KA2 Cooperation Partnership, “EU Players”, which encourages young people to be active EU citizens.
