Detached But Not Disconnected – Responding to Disinformation, Populism & Radicalisation
08-11 September 2025 | Dublin, Ireland
Across Europe, youth workers are increasingly encountering the impact of disinformation, populist narratives, and the threat of radicalisation among young people. These challenges influence young people’s perspectives, deepen social divides, and undermine trust in democratic systems. This contact-making seminar, led by expert trainers in detached youth work, will bring together youth professionals to explore how these issues manifest in the context of street-based and detached youth work, where young people are often disconnected from formal services.
Objectives:
- Examine how disinformation, populism, and radicalisation are affecting young people today
- Observe how these challenges are being addressed through youth work in detached settings
- Exchange practical tools, methods, and lessons from across Europe and neighbouring countries
- Build partnerships and networks to develop resilient, community-rooted youth work responses
- Explore future cooperation through Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps funding
