Launch of Erasmus+ Adult Education Research Report

15 September 2026

Léargas is pleased to announce the release of its latest research report, The Impact of Erasmus+ on the Adult Education Sector in Ireland.

The research examines the impact of participation in Erasmus+ upon adult education organisations, staff, learners, and the wider sector. It also explores the programme’s contribution to democratic participation and civic engagement.

It draws on evidence from organisations across Ireland that received Erasmus+ funding between 2021 and 2024 to examine organisations, staff and learners’ experiences of participation in international learner mobility and co-operation activities, and the outcomes they reported.

The report was launched at the event ‘Learn. Engage. Belong: Democratic Participation in Erasmus+ Adult Education’ held in Dublin, 15 September 2026.

The event featured discussion of the research findings, contributions from adult learner participants in Erasmus+ actions, and a moderated panel discussion with key stakeholders in Irish and European adult education policy and practice. This is an Associated Event of the Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2026.

The research is part of the Research-based Impact Analysis of Erasmus+ Adult Education (RIA-AE) network. RIA-AE is a transnational research network that brings together National Agencies and research institutions from 21 European countries to strengthen the evidence base on adult learning within Erasmus+. Ireland joined the RIA-AE network in 2024 in the second survey round (2025–2026).
