Ensuring a sustainable future for RMLs: Linguistic Models and Strategies for Multilingual Classrooms
19-20 November 2026 | Valencia, Spain
The ECML is pleased to announce that it will hold the workshop “Ensuring a sustainable future for RMLs: Linguistic Models and Strategies for Multilingual Classrooms” within the framework of the ECML’s joint action with the European Commission Innovative methodologies and assessment in language learning.
Following the introduction of a major reform by the Valencian educational authorities in 2025, this peer learning event offers participants a unique opportunity to engage with a rare and highly instructive policy context while situating their own experiences within a broader European perspective.
The event will combine in depth analysis of the specific Valencian context with structured exchange among participants from the member states of the ECML and the EU, enabling mutual learning, critical comparison of models, and the identification of transferable strategies for supporting RMLs within multilingual classrooms. School visits, policy discussions, and practitioner exchanges further allow participants to move beyond abstract frameworks and observe real-world implementation, strengthening their capacity to adapt successful approaches to their own national or regional contexts.
Participants from Ireland will have their travel expenses paid by the ECML and will receive a lump sum allowance of €199 per activity day towards accommodation, subsistence expenses and local transport.
Please read the full description, fill in the nomination form and return it to languages@leargas.ie by 10 August 2026.
