Erasmus+ School Education: Kinsale Community School

“Our students are beginning to see themselves as part of a wider European and global community.”

Kinsale Community School in Co. Cork used their Erasmus+ project Being European, Acting Globally (B.E.A.G.) to explore identity, migration and culture through a multidisciplinary approach.

Learning extended beyond the classroom through exchanges, workshops and cultural experiences, connecting formal and non-formal learning. Inclusive group work and a strong focus on student voice encouraged active participation, supported by partnerships with parents, NGOs and cultural organisations.

The project introduced more interactive, inclusive teaching and supported students of all backgrounds, including those with fewer opportunities. Its impact was felt across the school, with a more open, European-minded culture and increased teacher collaboration.

In 2025, the project was recognised with a European Innovative Teaching Award (EITA).
