Training Opportunities

Training Opportunities

These events provide support and guidance to organisations that want to provide volunteering opportunities, traineeships and employment placements for young people involved in the European Solidarity Corps. We will be scheduling these to start in 2019. Check back here for listings.

Did you know that we can fund you to take part in training events that help you prepare, apply for and run European Solidarity Corps projects? Each year Léargas chooses a number of particularly relevant training events that people working in the Irish youth and volunteering sector can be funded to attend.

Relevant events will be listed here shortly.

To apply to go to a training event, click on the link after the listing.  Léargas will then get in touch with you to let you know if your application has been successful.

These are training activities that support volunteers and trainees. They include on-arrival and midway training for in-place volunteers, trainees and employees. We will also organise training events for returned volunteers. Listings of these events will be published here when available.

Coaching the learning process for Volunteers (European Solidarity Corps and Erasmus+ Volunteers)

05 – 11 April, Spain

Profile of participants: Trainers, EVS Mentors/tutors; supervisors, project coordinators, trainers, former volunteers that want to learn how to support future volunteers experience and people involved in the supporting volunteering projects.

Themes and goals of the event: How can we support the learning process of the volunteers? Can the learning reflection be actually easy, interesting or funny

  • Can we include learning reflection in the many mentoring activities we are already doing?
  • Are we creating learning and reflecting spaces?
  • Why do I do that? What am I learning while supporting? Youthpass process?

Coaching the Learning process for volunteers (Erasmus + & European Solidarity Corps) is a non-formal education Training Course created for people involved in the mentoring of the volunteers and that are also interested in discovering more about learning reflection processes and the Youthpass process; mentors, former EVS volunteers, trainers and other people involved in supporting volunteers, who want to discover, get deeper, understand and experience a Training Course that will help them be able to support their future volunteers, enjoy doing a better work as mentors, coaches, supervisors… and move forward in their own learning processes while doing it

The main objectives are:

  1. To help beneficiaries understand the concept of impact assessment.
  2. To train beneficiaries so that they are able to: identify their project impact and outcomes; develop suitable indicators, and: identify suitable data sources.
  3. To help beneficiaries use impact evidence in their dissemination by identifying relevant audiences, stakeholders and communication mechanisms. The seminar will include a number of practical group exercises designed to familiarise participants with (the stages of the Impact+ Exercise and (ii) identifying and targeting relevant stakeholders.
Participants will not complete the Impact+ Exercise for their project. The seminar will provide them with the skills to facilitate a discussion and complete the Exercise with their project partners.
