Youthpass awards for community work

Sat, Apr 11th, 2015

Tipperary hurling legend Eoin Kelly presented young Clonmel men Jake Murphy and Michael O’Connor with European Youthpass certificates in recognition of their participation in the community-based project Art for Us. “It is terrific to see these young men fulfil their potential. They should be very proud of their accomplishments and I am sure it will stand to them in the future”, he said.

The project was aimed at promoting life and leadership skills as well as creative, critical thinking and teamwork skills, while developing a sense of inclusion and community among young people. It also helped to build social interaction and a sense of pride within Cúirt an Rí and promote a positive image of the estate in the wider community.  The project was made possible through a grant of €7,100 from the Youth in Action Programme delivered through Léargas. Artist Jessica Carson was engaged to support and coordinate the programme. Read more at The Nationalist – South Tipp Today.
